We are offering another new class in the FALL: machine learning

Dear community members of the HCSTC: Introduction to Machine Learning This course seeks to expose beginner and early intermediate students to fundamental machine learning (ML) methods, the frameworks to understand and tackle a problem using ML, and hands-on projects analyzing real data and drawing conclusions. This course will use Python and prior experience with programming will be helpful. Students interested in this course should, most importantly, express interest in ML and be willing to put time and effort towards building programming skills. While this class will not include a comprehensive introduction to programming, there will be a brief overview of important concepts to ensure all students start on the same page. Students will need a laptop for this class to follow demonstrations, practice, and implement their own projects. This class will be taught in English and is suitable for students who have already taken algebra (Age/level Requirement>=8th grade/14 years old+). While a syllabus is not set, some topics that may be covered are linear/logistic regression, K-nearest neighbors, neural networks, and skills to design and implement a personal project. By the end of the course, students will ideally have a basic understanding of machine learning principles and a deep desire to learn more on their own. Best wishes, HCSTC
