New Class Offered by HCSTC: AP Calculus AB and BC Class

Dear parents:

We're excited to offer this class in the new school year, mainly to help the high school students do better with their AP Calculus AB and BC subjects tests.

This class is specially designed for students who will take AP Calculus AB/BC during the 2024-2025 school year. It will help them prepare for the AP Calculus AB/BC exam in May 2025.  (The difference between AP Calculus AB and BC is in the last two units. AP Calculus BC students will learn units 9 and 10, while AP Calculus AB students will not need to cover these two units.)

We understand that it's difficult sometimes to find extra help for these students at their regular school environment and not every parent is equipped with the proficient knowledge in this specialized area to help your own child neither. That's the reason we offer this class. Take advantage of the rare opportunity if your child plans to take the AP Calculus AB/BC exam in May of 2025.

The course syllabus is as follows:

  • Unit 1: Limits and Continuity (Big Ideas: Change, Limits, Analysis of Functions)

  • Unit 2: Differentiation: Definition and Fundamental Properties (Big Ideas: Change, Limits, Analysis of Functions)

  • Unit 3: Differentiation: Composite, Implicit, and Inverse Functions (Big Idea: Analysis of Functions)

  • Unit 4: Contextual Applications of Differentiation and Rates of Change (Big Ideas: Change, Limits)

  • Unit 5: Analytical Applications of Differentiation including Analysis of Functions (Big Idea: Analysis of Functions)

  • Unit 6: Integration and Accumulation of Change (Big Ideas: Change, Limits, Analysis of Functions)

  • Unit 7: Differential Equations (Big Idea: Analysis of Functions)

  • Unit 8: Application of Integration

  • Unit 9: Parametric Equations, Polar Coordinates, and Vector-Valued Functions

  • Unit 10: Infinite Sequences and Series

We will have about 30 weeks to complete this course and will have some time left for the school year to do practice for the real AP exam.

Note: If you do not plan to take the AP Calculus AB/BC test in next May or EVER this class is not the right class for you.

Thanks and best regards,

HCSTC
