HCSTC 9/17 Announcement

Dear HCSTC community members: This coming Sunday, September 17, will be the 2nd day of our 2023–24 school year and it is a normal school day for us. Last Sunday, as we predicted, there was a minor glitch, the air conditioning of the Marshall HS was not working. We get assurance from the Marshall HS Authority this week that it should be working this coming Sunday and we keep our fingers crossed. Again, we ask for your patience and understanding beforehand for anything that may not go our way as planned. If you want to purchase any Chinese classes textbooks, you need to contact our textbook coordinator, Min Yao at minyao88@gmail.com immediately and let her know the GRADE, TYPE OF CHINESE TEXTBOOKS (we have 4 different type of Chinese textbooks) and # OF COPIES YOU WANT TO BUY. We accept check or cash only. NO CREDIT CARDS, please. Once the textbooks that we have ordered in the summer are sold out, you will have to purchase them directly from the publisher’s websites. All students attending classes at the HCSTC must have registered and paid tuition plus registration fees already, otherwise they will get rejected from our classes. The policy is stated clearly on our website and posted here in this email again as a clear reminder.

2. Tuition Payment :Tuition is due upon registration. To minimize unnecessary close personal contact, we are adding PayPal as a new payment method. Families can choose to mail a check to the School (HCS-TC, P.O. Box 9023, McLean, VA 22102) or pay by PayPal. Again, for the same reason, the School will absorb the PayPal transaction costs to make it convenient to our parents. The School requires every student to fully pay their tuitions after they register. If a class is full but not all students pay the tuition, the School will drop those unpaid students immediately in order to make rooms for others and to be fair to everyone. On the 1st day of our school, any registered but unpaid students will be dropped from our registration system to ensure the integrity and fairness of the HCSTC. As many of you may or may not know, the HCSTC is and has been run by a small group of our volunteers who have sacrificed their time tremendously over the years. In order to prolong this proud tradition, we welcome anyone who is willing to help our school by contributing your time and energy in helping our community’s members and families to learn, advance and improve in the curriculums that we offer at the HCSTC. Last but not least, according to the recent CDC reports, the Covid virus/variants are getting rampant again in several states and Virginia unfortunately is listed as one of them. As a precaution, we strongly recommend all of you to take any necessary actions, such as wearing masks and using sanitizers frequently to protect yourself, your families and our community members at our campus as you see most fit and necessary. For doing that, we wholeheartedly thank you in advance. Best wishes, HCSTC
