1/7/2024 HCSTC Announcement

Hello, HCSTC Community,

Happy new year to all of you. Hope you all have a great and very safe holidays season before you come back for the new semester. We'll start our Spring semester on 1/7/2024, this Sunday with same schedules, 2-5:50 pm every Sunday afternoon.

For your convenience, all our fall semester registered students have been enrolled into our 2024 Spring semester. However, if you don't wish to continue to study at the HCSTC campus for any reason, you need to drop your classes for the Spring semester within our registration system before 1/7/2014. Otherwise, your family will be charged for the tuition and registration fees. We try to avoid that as much as we can.

Also, if you plan to continue your schooling in the coming semester, you need to take care of the tuition and registration fee, in order to keep your place in the classes you had for the Fall semester. Spaces are very tight for some of the classes; if tuition and registration fees are not paid on time, we'd assume that you may not continue with the HCSTC for the new semester. In those cases, we'll have to drop you in order to give the space to new comers as we've received multiple applications/inquiries to those highly demanded classes.

This weekend, we may experience some bad weather. We at the HCSTC 100% follow the weather cancellation procedures by the County. For your convenience, I'm posting the following info here so you can find weather related information from the county in case of bad weather and snowstorm hitting our area, like this weekend. You may want to save it for the future until the winter season is over.

When bad weather or other emergency situations occur, it may be necessary for FCPS to cancel, delay, or close schools early. FCPS tries to make decisions in the evening, taking into account that parents need time to make proper arrangements. But when there is a lot of uncertainty, they wait to get the latest morning forecast. In that case, the superintendent makes the decision of whether to delay or close schools by approximately 4:30 a.m on that morning.

FCPS provides information about closings and delays in many ways including:

  • Posted to the FCPS Twitter and FCPS Facebook pages.

  • Posted on FCPS cable Channel 21 (Cox Communications, Reston Comcast, and Verizon (channel 11) cable customers only).

  • Area radio and television stations.

  • Please be aware, due to the large volume of emails sent, there will likely be a

  • lag between the website, social media and news station updates.

So, you should check the above outlets this Sunday to see if we'll have a normal school or if the school is cancelled due to the bad weather or snowstorm. I know many of you may not even read the weekly emails from the school; but your life can be made lot easier if you simply spend a few minutes to read them.

Happy New Year and best wishes,

HCSTC
